Spring Break

Just in case anyone stopped by and wondered why I hadn’t updated in forever, it’s simple: I was on spring break, and my wife took Thursday and Friday off, so we had just a blast with our few days off together.

On Thursday, we drove down to Socorro for a few things. We stopped by New Mexico Tech, a school I was considering for graduate work. We’ve decided that it isn’t right for us at this point in our lives. I’d have to effectively be a full time student, and they prefer that you don’t commute, so it didn’t work well for us. After that, we went and visited the Very Large Array, a.k.a. the VLA. If you’ve seen Contact, starring Jodie Foster, the VLA is where she’s listening for extraterrestrial life when she actually makes contact. It was an awesome place to visit.

Friday was basically a relaxing day off. We did a ton of shopping at the mall, including picking up a Pokémon guide for me. Yeah, you can laugh, but it’s a fun game, and the guide makes it all the better. After that, we then went to my sister-in-law’s and made dinner for her. She’s about two and a half months pregnant, but due to a small scare she had, she’s committed to bedrest. My wife made dinner for us and her parents too, so the six of us had a great dinner.

To be honest, I don’t remember much of what we did on Saturday. We just took another leisure day, I think. Sunday was a late morning followed by church.

All of the days were just awesome, it was so nice to spend time with my wife. Over the past two months, I’ve been staying up late nights to work on homework, so I haven’t really had much significant time with her. It was just a really really nice time overall. For now, I’ve got seven weeks left plus finals, then I get some more time off. Also, if I’m lucky, I’ve only got two classes left! Finally, I’ll have my bachelor’s of science in computer science. It’s been a long road, and it feels nice to be so close to the end.
