Hey, look, I’m still alive

A little over two weeks — I think that’s a record for me.

I’m still here, and still alive. I’ve been playing a good bit of World of Warcraft, and have been pretty slack at keeping up with blogs. When I do read them, I’ve been even more slack with commenting. I’ve read recent posts, at least somewhat, I just haven’t really had much of anything to say.

Let’s see, what’s been big over the past two weeks? I can’t recall if this is really the past two weeks, or even longer, but the Sable died. My “new” car had the number one rod bearing go out on it, due to pre-existing damage to the oil pan that caused intake issues, causing poor lubrication. Basically, it’s a very similar problem to what the Tercel had, and it exhibits similar symptoms. I hadn’t had the car a month before it died on me. A new engine would be roughly what I paid for the car, and that’s not including labor, so I’m not sure what we’re doing now. I think we’re going to try and sell both of them, and just hold off for awhile. I can borrow my brother-in-law’s truck for now.

Part of the reason we’re waiting: Lisa’s going to be gone for two months, and so really we’ll only need one car at that point. Her schedule for the next few weeks is just insane. On Sunday, she flies out to Oklahoma City (again) for a couple of days, leaving early Sunday morning and getting back Tuesday evening. Then, the next week she starts another four week training class. That means more of these 10-12 hour days for her. Once those four weeks are up, she’s doing another three-day hop to Oklahoma City, then taking the rest of that week off. After that, the big trip starts – eight weeks in Argentina.

Eight weeks apart would be absolutely awful. I’m looking at options to get a ticket, and it’s looking like getting a second job at night is going to be the only real option. I’m going to try and get a job at Relay New Mexico, as I could stand to sit there and type out phone calls a few hours a night on weeknights. The extra money will be useful for other things too, so it shouldn’t be too bad.

Also, work has been extra stressful. We’ve got a lot going on, and while we’re decently staffed, it’s a lot more pressure than it’s ever been. We’re getting some big clients, which is the big stresser there. It’s good to have a booming business, but it’s also very stressful.

I’m not sure what else to toss out right now. I’m still here. I’ll try to update more frequently, maybe try to get into at least three-a-week or something until things get more interesting.

That rots about Lisa being gone that much :( It also rots about your car.
