Far from the eye

Carlos has mentioned in his latest entry that he doesn’t have to work today, and his doctor appointment was cancelled, due to Hurricane Isabel. He lives up in DC, so right now he’s on the fringe of the storm. He has an excellent graphic on his post, so go read it.

Being the desert dweller that I still am, it’s somewhat hard to imagine. I remember once when I was a very little child that there was a flood here in town. I remember having to ride in a truck with my Uncle Gary at the wheel. He was an awful driver and a scary man in general, so I was in a basic state of terror. I knew little about what was going on other than that there was lots of water around. I can’t imagine a hurricane. I’ve seen so many photos, stories, and whatnot – and yet, it’s still hard to imagine. It makes me want to either pick up a Skip Doctor or one of the many variants of it (GameDoctor, CD Doctor, DVD Doctor) and repair my Twister DVD. I know that’s tornadoes, but hey, doesn’t mean it doesn’t spark my interest in it anyways. Mmm, Helen Hunt.

Also, in searching for information about a Game Doctor (as that’s what I first think about in the Doctor series), I ran across http://www.gamedoctor.com, which has a large ASCII picture of Woody Woodpecker for some reason. Go have a gander.
