A return to simplicity

So, I’ve gotten some grief lately for not having posted anything of any note or significance in recent months. I think part of that is I’ve simply not really liked looking at my site.

However, recent changes such as a new version of WordPress (I’m now on 2.2), and a new version of Sandbox (my theme of choice) have motivated me to take another stab at theming my site.

I played with some colors and borders and other fancy stuff, and then I realized — way back in the day, I ran a very simple and clean theme and I really liked it. I took a simple two-column layout from within Sandbox, tweaked it a bit, changed the font, and bam — I’m really quite happy with the simplicity.

I realize saying “I wasn’t writing because, well, my site was kinda ugly” is a really cheap excuse. I’m not sure why I haven’t had more to say.

Last time I made a list of topics to be posted soon, it helped me write it out. I’ve had a few big events that have clogged up my brain. Maybe once I get these out into words, it’ll help me to write more. Here’s what I have coming up soon.

  • My makeover from Albuquerque: The Magazine back in March
  • The European trip that Lisa and I took

The Europe trip should be easy — I have several posts I’ve already written, just waiting to be punched into the system. I’m probably going to push them all in en masse, preserving timestamps I wrote down as I wrote the entries, maybe sprinkle some photos about (which are currently uploading), and then write one master entry with a new timestamp with links to the content.

So, yeah! I’m feeling more jazzed about blogging again. Here’s to hoping it holds up.
