THorum Trip 2006: Saturday/Sunday

Since Sunday was fairly short, I’m wrapping up the last two days into one post. Again, cutting it to be short on the front page. Click away!

After the rigmarole around the prior night’s fire alarms, we were all kind of groggy in the morning. We went downstairs and found a nice breakfast that seemed free, and so we all started eating up. It wasn’t the best food, but it wasn’t bad. Then, we found out it wasn’t so free. Oops. Still good, though.

The morning to early afternoon was spent just bumming around the room. Mark rejoined us, having stayed at home after his Improv show, and met Mike and Harmony. He brought a TV with him, so now we had two TVs for gaming purposes, which was nice. We then headed back to the mall, which was about the only thing we really knew about in Indy.

We burned some time and money in the arcade. It wasn’t the best arcade, but it was pretty good (better than anything in this state), and there was a DDR machine that made me feel old when I tried a song. After that, we saw My Super Ex-Girlfriend which was horribly cheesy and funny.

For dinner, we hit up Olive Garden. It’s what you do when you’re meeting THorumites, it would seem. It was tasty and we had a cute couple as our servers. It was a little dark, so some pictures came out kind of bad. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel for lots more video games and some Scrabble. Again, it was a ton of fun. Also, fortunately, there were no alarms in the night.

Sunday was short due to trips home and such. We all went to lunch at Steak & Shake, which was surprisingly good. I had a milkshake that was half dark chocolate and half banana. It was amazing. After lunch, Mike and Harmony hit the road for home, and the rest of us headed back to the hotel, where Mark had left his car. The ladies and I said our goodbyes to Mark there, then headed for the airport. The car was turned in, and we all checked in and sat together for awhile waiting on our flights. I was the first one to go, so we said goodbyes in the very small terminal B of Indy’s airport, and I boarded the very fast flight to Connecticut, then made my connection home with no problems.

It was such a wonderful and fun trip. I had an absolute blast, and was so glad to get the chance to meet these people that I’ve known on the ‘net for quite awhile. I’m looking forward to meeting up with them again, even as just friends, and not specifically as a THorum meetup. In fact, I’ve even already met up with Mark again in September. An upcoming post will detail that trip.
