After over a month, the story continues! More after the jump.
So, let’s see. Friday had a late start, which makes some sense, considering that we didn’t get to sleep until 4am that morning. The four of us (myself, Mark, Angela, Andie) got up and got ready, and we went and met up with Mark’s friends Kat and Matt for lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Lisa and I absolutely love Buffalo Wild Wings, so I’m glad I got to eat there again. It should be noted that Buffalo Wild Wings (or BW3’s as Mark and his friends kept saying, for some reason) became a theme for meals on the rest of my summer trips.
After our awesome lunch, we walked into this gaming shop that, at the time, was easily the best gaming shop I’ve ever entered. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Active Imagination, but this place had a lot more board games and such. Some purchases were made, and then we left. We hit up a custard place named Culver’s, which Mark says is the second best custard he’s ever had, and then we hit the road for Indianapolis. I will say that the custard was really pretty tasty.
The drive to Indianapolis was fairly slow. Literally, as there were some traffic problems along the way. We almost hit a truck that had to stop suddenly, even. There were also lots and lots of fields. Excitement, let me tell you. That being said, the company was awesome, so it was still a lot of fun.
We arrived at the hotel, and after resolving some confusion at the front desk, settled into a pair of rooms. Mark had to take off, as he had an improv show, so I got to hang out with Angela and Andie for awhile. We played some DS multiplayer stuff in the hotel room, and also discovered that the TVs wouldn’t allow for gaming hookups. At this point we called Harmony and Mike, and caught them in time to have them bring their television.
After that, we went and rented a car. Once we’d picked out an amusing little silver PT Cruiser, we hit up the mall that Mark and I went to on Thursday. We shopped around a bit, and then headed back to the hotel just in time to get right behind Harmony and Mike on the freeway. It worked out well. There was then another confusing mix-up with the hotel rooms, and we had to move stuff around again, but that was the last time we had to move.
Once we were finally settled, we just hung out for the night, playing games and talking. A different Mark (who tends to go by lenin_fresh online) showed up for a little while, and we played some Zombies! which was an absolute blast, and we generally had an awesome time just hanging out and talking. Angela and Andie were getting tired, so they went into one room and Harmony, Mike and I were in the other. We stayed up later, playing some Typing of the Dead (funniest game ever), and talking more and whatnot. Finally around 3:15am we decided to go to bed.
Unfortunately, someone else had other plans. I had just taken off my shoes to go to bed when the fire alarm started going off. This alarm was one of the loudest, most piercing alarms I have ever heard. It hurts to even remember. We were all fairly panicked, and eventually managed to make it outside. It had rained some over the course of the evening. I recall my socks being sopping wet, which was quite an unpleasant feeling. Finally after 20 minutes or so, they got the alarm to turn off, and we went back to bed. Ten minutes later, it popped again, although only for about a minute. At around 5am, it popped again, but only for about two seconds. However, it was enough to get me to literally jump out of bed.
The post for Friday feels shorter, but I think that’s because I’m glossing over some specific board game details and such. Even with the horrible fire alarm, it was still a great day and I’m really glad for it. Up next: Saturday!
