Christmas Loot!

I’ve been awfully slack at writing anything lately, so I figure that writing about Christmas gifts is going to be an easy way to get back into the swing of things.

First, I need to show off my new toy. I am absolutely enamored of it, and I can’t believe Lisa bought it, much less even thought to buy it. So, here you go. Lisa bought me a didgeridoo!

Brian with his didgeridoo! Here’s a picture of me with the didgeridoo. She took it just as I’d answered the phone (it was her mom). She took another of me playing, but I wasn’t so happy with that picture, and this one really shows off the colors of the didgeridoo well, although it doesn’t show how curved the didg is - it’s fairly curved and bendy. That’s illustrated in the next photo.

Didgeridoo Mouthpiece Here’s a shot of the didgeridoo’s mouthpiece. It’s a piece of all-natural beeswax that’s been shaped around the opening, and tapered a bit (which doesn’t show well with the flash). It’s not only comfortable to put my mouth to it, but it also happens to leave my lips feeling more moisturized. It’s very amusing.

Looking down the didg Here I am, looking down the didgeridoo. You can see it curving off to the side.

My lovely assistantFinally, here’s a shot of my lovely assistant, who made all of these pictures possible, in multiple ways. I’m still so astonished that she bought me a didgeridoo. It’s incredibly awesome.

There were some other really great gifts. I mean, it’s hard to compare the didg to the other stuff, but hey. Lisa also got me a CD from the people who crafted my didgeridoo - Inlakesh, based in Santa Fe - as well as a really nice Redskins hat. Also, she got me some really nice slippers with hard soles, so that I can walk the trash outside even if I don’t have shoes on. She’s always thinking about me. I actually wanted slippers that could go outside, so I’m really happy about that.

As for what I got Lisa, I purchased her some Spark: Seduction perfume, and a lovely necklace from Zales that she’s wearing in the photo linked to above. It’s a simple nice chain that has a heart on the end, but the heart hangs on one end of the chain that then goes through a loop on the other end of the chain, and it’s really quite pretty yet simple enough for everyday use. Oh, I also got her a duffel bag because her current one is all beat and broken.

My mom gave us both gift certificates (Best Buy for me, Dillard’s for her), as well as a “stocking” full of cute stuff, including an Ove Glove for me! I’m so excited. My grandpa gave me $50, which is always appreciated.
Lisa’s family got me all sorts of things. Her mom got me an Ove Glove as well, so I have a pair! It’s great. They also got me this Sudoku for Dummies book, a nice set of pajamas, and the Jones Soda Holiday Pack! I now own sodas in the flavors of Turkey and Gravy, Stuffing, Brussel Sprouts, Cranberry, and Pumpkin Pie. I’ll probably do a taste testing/drinking and post the results, sometime soon hopefully.

Today, Lisa and I went shopping with our holiday cash. We bought two pairs of shoes at Dillard’s (I fell asleep in the shoe section, she shopped so long, I’m not joking), and then we went to Best Buy, where I spent my cash and gift certificate on a Wacom Graphire4! I’ve wanted a tablet of some sort forever, and this seemed like as good a time as any. I created a webcam for the THorum to demonstrate my two new favorite gifts, and I figured I’d go ahead and post it here too.

Overall, it was a pretty awesome Christmas. I got to see a lot of family and really enjoyed the time with them too. My nephew is growing up so fast! Last year he didn’t quite “get” Christmas, but this year he was all into it. “More trucks! More cars!” He’s a bit demanding but it’s cute.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas or whatever it is that you may celebrate, and I wish the best to you for the new year!

  1. Yo! Brian! You did well for Christmas. Congratulations on your new didge! I’ve got three suggestions; practice, practice, practice. It took me exactly four months and five minutes to figure out how to circular breathe. Happy New Year and good luck!

  2. You are as cool as me…or something like that.
I will call you for lunch tomorrow.
