The best laid plans…

So, tonight Lisa and I went to see Intolerable Cruelty with Nasser and Deszarae. I got a phone call during the movie, but my phone was on vibrate so it didn’t disturb anyone but Nasser, who could sort of hear the buzz of the phone and feel it vibrate (from my pocket to the armrest between us to his leg).

It was a call from my mom. My grandma is currently hospitalized, on a breathing machine of sorts. Apparently she hasn’t been processing her breathing properly, and so her carbon dioxide levels were approximately two and a half times as high as they should be, so she was basically passing out from a lack of oxygen. She’s also got pneumonia, so things aren’t looking so good. The next 72 hours are going to be crucial.

I also got a call at home from my dad, and I’m half afraid to hear that my grandparents on his side are having problems too.

Originally, this weekend was looking like it was going to be a time of rest, maybe rebuild John’s old computer in a new case for Lisa, but that’s probably not going to happen now. I’m not sure what will, but this weekend won’t be as restful as I’d hoped. I don’t know if I should hope for Nicole to have her baby so we have some joy, or if I hope that she doesn’t have it yet so that we can get through this first. It’s hard to say.

  1. October’s not been kind to grandmas it would seem. My thoughts and prayers for yours, your dad, and for Nicole and the new baby! Hope all is well. You are probably an uncle as I type this. :-)
