Awesome Gift

One of the things that I love about being a student on campus is that people hand out stuff for free, especially around this time of year. Any time that students return to campus, people show up handing stuff out.

Usually it’s somewhat lame, things like fliers cover campus, maybe a button or stickers. One year BigWords.com was handing out super bounce rubber balls with a URL on it, and those were neat.

But, this time, I ran across someone who had a Rubbermaid sticker on, and was handing out a handful of free writing utensils. I got two Sharpie markers, one red and one metallic (for black surfaces), a basic mechanical pencil, a decent ball-point pen, and my new favorite pen of all, a Uni-ball Vision Elite in blue. My mom got me a black ink version of this pen for Christmas, and it was my favorite pen until this blue one. The blue one is not just nicer because it’s blue (and matches my planner well), but also because it writes with a finer tip than the black one, so now my small handwriting is much more legible.

Also, since I wound up spending about 30 minutes at the bus stop this morning, I pulled out the sketchbook and drew the house across the street. You’re welcome to have a look. I feel that I’m much better at drawing houses and scenery than I am at drawing people, but I still don’t think I’m that good at either.

Edit: 10 March 2006 - As I went back and added categories, I wanted to add some small notes. I still have and regularly use the blue pen mentioned in this post as of today.
